Once Upon a Time in China Part 2

This part is on da differences between Beijing n Msia...da 1st part is before 'Year 2008' post. sorry bout dat....technical mistake n I lazy to correct it d...

  1. Food! - Had roast duck almost everyday! N 'Tung Po Yuk'(pork) too. Mostly spicy food. Less green veggie cos it's winter. For fruits it's watermelon every meal! Never miss..but hv oranges n pineapple too but oni a few times. We had 3 kinds of drinks for every meal. Soup, tea n coca-cola. For adults, add another beer. Had duck soup for a few times already there. According to Louise, da top food he likes in Msia is chicken rice. He said our satay n instant noodles is da worst food he ever tasted. So, many ppl tried China's instant noodle there. I dunno whether it's true or not cos I'm always full there. No chance to try.

  2. The mutton steam boat

    Chicken soup +shark's fin soup....yummy!

    This is something special....prawn satay..ichiban!

  3. Toilets - Dat's da 1st thing ppl wanna talk bout after my return. I can tell u da toilets r generally OK there. Most probably cos we ate at high class restaurants everytime. As for da public toilets they're still OK but dirtier n smellier a bit. The toilets there r star-rated...Mostly rated 3star...U won't believe this but every tap at da sink is automatic! using sensor...cool ha?! In Msia oni some places hv them.

  4. Plastic bags - Believe it or not plastic bags r not free there. They cost from 10cent to 50cent RMB depending on da quality. So, backpack comes in handy here. But in da end we hv to pay for them oso cos we can't carry everything in our backpack.

  5. Transport - China's public transport is very advanced. They hv this electric buses everywhere. Wif oni 40cents RMB they can go ANYWHERE they wan. N there r loads of taxis everywhere. The cars r cheap there. So, it's all branded car on da road but the petrol is very expensive. There r still ppl who opt to ride a bike.

  6. Work force - As u all know China is overpopulated. So everywhere we go there r guards especially historical n famous places. The restaurants oso hv many waiters n waitresses. Some restaurants even employ somebody to specifically press da lift's button for customers.

  7. Money - This is very important n was stressed by our tour guide a lot of times. He teached us how to differentiate real money n fake money cos many ppl will be trying to cheat our money. First, da real money must hv da pic of Mao Tse Tung. If da money hv a pic of somebody else then it's not real. Second, when u crumble da money there must be a crisp sound. Not like crumbling a paper sound. Lastly, it must hv da real amount written n hidden in da money dat oni can be viewed under sunlight. One of our tourmates still being conned despite da tips given. He received a fake RMB100...bad luck i guess.

  8. Smoking - China ppl likes to smoke. Don't ask me. I dunno y. Maybe cos of da cold whether. However, they can't smoke in historical places. Stadium included too I think. Don't wanna burn down The Forbidden City rite. So, those addicts must come out from da buildings before they smoke. Can't believe our tour guide oso smoke but thank god not in da bus.

  9. Security - To go into places like The Forbidden City n Bird's Nest Stadium, full body security check is compulsory. Totally like the airport's security check. Bags too must undergo the scanning process. This time water is allowed unlike Hong Kong Disneyland where they open ur bag n search for water bottle.

  10. Weather - It's 9 degree Celcius when we arrived there. Dat temperature can cause smoke to come out from our mouth already. We must apply lotions, lip balm n Vaseline a few times a day to protect our skin cos the humidity there is very low. Water evaporates very fast there. The coldest temperature I've experience there is between -1 to 0 degree Celcius. It's colder when da wind blows directly at our face. I came back wif rough skin, rosy cheeks n frostbite. Took a while to adjust back to Msia temperature.

  11. Hotel - The hotel rooms in China is multiple times bigger than hotel rooms in Hong Kong where there r no place for us to open our luggage except on da bed. The hotel where we stay is very nice n beautifully decorated. It even hv an indoor garden.
